SystemArdex Ensures that the Laundry Gets Done on Time

ARDEX UK has once again proved the versatility of their premium quality commercial flooring products by providing the total system solution for a flooring refurbishment at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Flooring contractors Acklam Flooring of Middlesbrough were commissioned to completely refurbish the floor area of the hospital’s Laundry Room. It was essential that the Laundry Room could remain in operation throughout the refurbishment, so it was vital to deliver efficient overnight operating procedures which would provide the necessary rapid completion and cost efficiency.

To commence, ARDEX’s Surface Damp Proof Membrane ARDEX DPM, which has been created to be compatible with ARDEX’s range of commercial flooring systems, was applied to the 1700m2 floor. ARDEX DPM is easy to apply and provides a membrane with high inherent strength and durability on floors with an RH up to 98%.

ARDITEX latex smoothing compound was applied directly to the ARDEX DPM to provide a smooth surface ready to receive the ARDEX floorcovering adhesive. ARDITEX remains the flooring industry’s favourite smoothing compound by consistently providing unsurpassed performance and ease of use for virtually all types of commercial and domestic environments.

To complete the project, the vinyl floorcovering was fixed with ARDEX AF 150 flooring adhesive which is perfect for use within hospital environments due to its solvent free formulation and additional benefits of low odour and high yield. Ideal for the application of PVC/Vinyl floorcoverings, including sheet and tiles with foam and PVC backings, ARDEX AF 150 has a long tack time plus good early and long term strength.
