System Ardex specified for new £3M school sporting facility

When working within the public education sector, it is vital that facilities budgets are maximised and installation procedures are efficient. When Brigshaw High School and Language College in Allerton Bywater had a £3m sporting facility refurbishment plan approved following significant fire damage to their sports hall, leading manufacturers of commercial flooring systems ARDEX UK were pleased to provide a cost effective, high performance flooring solution. One of the North of England’s key flooring contractors, Mark Paynter (Contracts) Ltd of Shipley, West Yorkshire worked in partnership with ARDEX to specify an integrated ARDEX system solution which would prove perfect for the project.

Proven to deliver rapid and cost effective results, ARDEX DPM 1 C One Coat Surface Damp Proof Membrane was applied to the sports hall floor to provide a DPM with high inherent strength and an excellent bond. Developed for use as a one coat system, ARDEX DPM 1 C is easy to apply, fast curing and can accommodate Hygrometer readings up to 98% RH.

ARDITEX latex smoothing compound was applied to the cured DPM to deliver an exceptionally smooth and flat surface. For over 30 years ARDITEX has been providing unsurpassed performance for a wide range of commercial and domestic environments, and remains the flooring industry’s favoured smoothing compound.

To complete the project, ARDEX AF 100 Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Flooring Adhesive was used to install the Gerflor Taraflex Sport M Vinyl floorcovering. Specifically developed for the UK flooring market, ARDEX AF 100 is increasingly chosen by architects and contractors as the preferred adhesive for all types of PVC/Vinyl floorcoverings. Incorporating many user benefits, ARDEX AF 100 can be applied by trowel and then rolled to remove trowel serration marks, helping to deliver the best possible floor finish. ARDEX AF 100 also offers exceptionally high yield, low odour and is suitable for use with underfloor heating.

In addition to offering premium performance, ARDEX’s innovative floorcovering adhesive range has been developed to offer compatibility with their sub-floor smoothing and levelling compounds, fast track screeds and repair mortars.
