Atlantic Boilers celebrates award winning product. They have
just been awarded Industrial/Commercial heating product of the year
at the H&V news awards for excellence
THE EVENT:
The H & V News awards is widely recognised with in the
HVCA industry. With many companies in attendance the
awards showcase the innovative and resourceful industry,
identifying new products, processes and talent with the
focus on excellence of performance.
One of the judges, Tony Amura said “I am most impressed
by the standing of the H&V News Awards. They are held in
such high esteem by the entire HVCA industry. Winning or
even being short-listed in the event is promoted widely
in subsequent marketing activity which re-inforces how
important they are.”
THE JUDGES:
Among the judges were: Dr David Arnold, The CIBSE past
president and a fellow of the Royal Academy of
Engineering. David is also partner of Troup Bywaters &
Anders since 1973; Andrew Eastwell, the Chief Executive
of BSRIA which, for nearly 50 years, has been supporting
the h&v sector to improve its products, processes and
profits. Richard Rooley: both a Fellow and past
president of the American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Richard is also a fellow of the Royal Academy of
Engineering and principal of Rooley Consultants in Stoke
Poges. Terry Wyatt has been a partner at the firm of
consultant engineers Hoare Lee for the last 22 years. He
has headed up research and development at the company
for the last 18 years. Wyatt is past president of CIBSE
and chairman of The Carbon Task Group, and is now
Special Professor of Building Services Engineering for
the School of the Built Environment of Nottingham
University.
THE PRODUCT:
THE R-SERIES NEW GENERATION CONDENSING BOILER comprises
a range of units with outputs from 10kW to 535kW,
capable of running on natural gas, Class D oil, LPG,
kerosene or rape seed oil. The judges were impressed
that the boiler is designed to operate for extended
periods in condensing mode. This is achieved by flue gas
leaving the secondary condensing heat exchanger at
temperatures below 50’C. The boilers plastic secondary
heat exchanger also caught the judges’ eye, since
plastic is an “ideal” material for condensing boilers
owing to the acidity of the condensate. To protect the
secondary condensing exchanger, intelligent control of
combustion and water flow ensures flue gases reach it at
temperatures lower than 90’C.
