New Carrier Aquaforce chillers part of order to air condition The O2 Arena entertainment complex

Carrier air conditioned the original Millennium Dome and now it will air condition its spectacular successor The O2 Arena. Four of Carrier’s newest energy-efficient Aquaforce chillers, which incorporate micro-channel heat exchange technology, are part of the overall contract. Carrier will supply nine further large water-cooled chillers, each with almost a megawatt cooling capacity. These will be combined with fourteen Carrier air handling systems. Eight more, smaller, Aquasnap chillers will also be incorporated into further developments in the Arena’s Waterfront leisure village area.

The centrepiece of the multi-billion pound O2 development will be an indoor arena for up to 23,000 fans that will host up to 150 world-class music, entertainment and sport events in its first year of opening. The O2 is also an official venue for the 2012 Olympics, set to host both the gymnastic and basketball finals.

Within the facility there will be the Live Music Club, with a capacity of over 2,000, theatre space, a cinema complex, a 'bubble' shaped world-class exhibition space as well as bars and restaurants in a vibrant waterfront 'entertainment district' wrapped round the arena under the roof.
