Toshiba Carrier UK introduces Aquasmart Plus control
London, UK, 31 July, 2006 - Toshiba Carrier UK (TCUK)
has introduced the next generation of its Carrier
Aquasmart air conditioning control system, Aquasmart
Plus. Aquasmart Plus is ideal for integrating all air
conditioning equipment in small to medium sized
installations (150 to 4,500 m˛), such as offices,
hotels, retail and restaurants, into a single, optimized
system.
The first Aquasmart control, introduced successfully six
years ago, was originally developed to control Carrier’s
fan coil units and Aquasnap chillers, to optimize
integrated system performance. Aquasmart Plus is an
application-specific use of existing ALC (Automated
Logic Corporation) controls technology by the Carrier
brand product team in the UK.
Responding to market concerns about energy efficiency,
Aquasmart Plus has been developed to ensure that HVAC
systems operate as fully-integrated designs to maximize
energy efficiency. It utilises the American Society of
Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)
approved open protocol* BACNet system. It provides the
capacity to interface with most building equipment such
as boilers, security systems, lighting and lifts, in
addition to existing third party air conditioning
equipment and Building Management Systems (BMS). The
capability can be extended easily to match the growth of
customers’ own facilities.
It has the capability to display the system it is
controlling on web browser software on a personal
computer, handheld PDA or mobile phone. This allows a
facility manager to control building services from any
location. The control can monitor energy usage, and
energy performance, utilizing a ‘thermal imaging
display’ for quick reference of areas and their relative
temperatures. Reports and trending information can be
generated from Aquasmart Plus.
