SERVAL Room Controller Maximises Energy-Efficiency
The CentraLine by Honeywell brand, for networked HVAC
control in small and medium sized buildings, has
introduced the SERVAL room controller, which can
regulate radiators, underfloor heating, fan coil units
and chilled ceilings individually and
energy-efficiently.
SERVAL is part of a highly efficient energy supply chain
when combined with the PANTHER plant controller and the
COMMAND range of stylish wall modules for precise
measurement of temperature, humidity, CO2 and air
quality.
SERVAL offer several opportunities to maximise
energy-efficiency. For example, in combination with
presence sensors it can be used to adjust the room
climate to the pattern of use. A presence sensor can
notify the SERVAL room controller when a room is no
longer occupied, so the heating or air conditioning
switches to economy mode. Similarly, with a window
contact, system operation is guided by whether the
window is closed or open. Fire safety systems can also
be linked to SERVAL. In the event of a fire the
ventilation system switches off automatically so it
cannot spread smoke.
The overall system is easily monitored and operated via
a CentraLine ARENA workstation. Individually timed
programs for separate rooms, zones or whole buildings
can be set flexibly with just a few mouse clicks. ARENA
can be accessed via a Web browser on the local network,
by modem dial-up or from on the Internet anywhere in the
world. Heating/cooling schedules of several rooms at
once can be changed in just a few seconds. This makes it
possible to set the system quickly to take account of
changing holiday and business hours and to further
optimise energy consumption.
