Excel Web controller for buildings ensures free vendor choice, secures plant investment and reduces installation costs

Honeywell has introduced Excel Web, an IP-enabled controller for building automation that ensures a free choice in selecting HVAC plant vendors – now and in the future – and secures investments in plant.

Excel Web reduces costs enormously, as an existing IP network infrastructure (Ethernet LAN/WAN) can be used for the plant controllers; there is no need to run an additional bus through the whole building, as communication between Excel Web controllers in different buildings can use existing network cabling.

Excel Web is license-free and offers the highest level of independence and network security in the marketplace, with the combination of BACnet® and LonWorks® open protocols, easy operation and remote services via Standard Browsers including Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, plus increased networking security using LINUX.

Excel Web provides direct access via Intranet or Internet; there is no need for additional routers. It is completely independent of proprietary operator interfaces. Any standard notebook, laptop panel or touch-panel PC with an Internet Browser can be used. It has a built-in web server and is completely independent of external web servers.

It also features built-in remote service capability, including firmware and application download, read-out of online trend buffer, and trend and read-out of LON communication statistics.

Excel Web integrates into every network security concept and is firewall friendly: it requires only two ports, HTTP and BACnet, and does not use ActiveX. The web server can be disabled for critical applications, such as on military or pharmaceutical sites.
