Pipe Guard - Don't Let Costly Damage Disrupt Business

Anyone that’s prepared a risk assessment document knows that water damage could prove extremely costly and highly disruptive to day-to-day operations. Now a new product, Pipe Guard, designed to limit the damage from water leaks, offers those in charge of facilities management real peace of mind for a very small outlay.

Water damage can be particularly devastating where several companies share the same building, as a leak in one area could have a severe knock on affect for everyone else.

When premises suffer water damage, it’s not just internal fixtures and fittings that get ruined. Other more significant items such as single copy paper records or electronic data that hasn’t been backed-up can be difficult if not impossible to salvage. What’s more, in worst case scenarios a whole workforce may have to find alternative temporary accommodation; not always an easy brief to fulfil.

Developed in conjunction with Wolverhampton and Coventry Universities, Pipe Guard is available in a number of builders merchants and online.

Luke Brown, inventor of the product and former insurance loss adjuster, knows first hand the disruption caused to business. He says: “The fall out of an incident affects businesses on three levels; physical disruption, the financial implications and the effect on the people involved, both staff and customers.”

There’s an additional benefit for businesses on a water meter too. Tests reveal Pipe Guard’s unique flexi-valve system, could save them up to 7% on their water bills so the device could quickly pay for itself. It doesn’t need mains power to operate either, so no increase in electricity bills plus it’s simple to programme and has five settings to suit low to high levels of water consumption.

Luke added: “Whether you’re in charge of the facilities management for a public or private building, commercial or residential Pipe Guard is one gadget that really will save you time and money should the worst happen. You don’t have to wait till after a major leak to fit a Pipe Guard and while it won’t prevent the leak in the first place, it will significantly limit the damage which could save you hundreds of hours and thousands of pounds.”
