OCS Technical Helps Crown Estate To Access All Areas

Leading access specialist, OCS Technical, has recently designed, manufactured and installed a tailor-made solution to access the exterior and the atrium at The Crown Estate’s new development in Regent Street (home of the Apple flagship store) as part of a brand new contract with leading property developer and project manager Stanhope PLC.

OCS Technical, one of Stanhope’s preferred suppliers, has provided a two-part access solution to enable cleaning and maintenance work to be carried out safely.

OCS Technical has supplied Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) with 17.5m telescopic jib onto the roof of the development – a BMU so impressive that it has been nicknamed the ‘Supergun’ by site staff. The unit can be used to suspend a two-man cradle, also provided by OCS, to access all four elevations. To access the atrium, a tailor-made gantry has been installed, having been carefully designed to match the cladding so that it can be stored out of sight when not in use.

OCS chief executive, Chris Cracknell, said: “This project truly reflects the extensive capabilities that we have at designing, constructing and installing access systems. OCS Technical designed the solution in line with Stanhope’s promise to deliver projects that consider local needs and reduce disruption. The full and easy access to the exterior, provided by the BMU, will ensure that cleaning and maintenance can be carried out smoothly and efficiently.
