OWA’s Customers from around the World Celebrate the Latest
Manufacturing Investment in Germany
A party of OWA (UK) Ltd’s customers recently
witnessed the start of a new high technology suspended
ceilings production line at OWA’s European Head Office
in Germany last month. Hundreds of guests from around
the world witnessed one of the year’s most significant
events for the European suspended ceilings industry.
The new investment of 17m Euros is the latest in a long
line of continuous improvements at OWA’s main factory
which total 65m Euros in the past ten years. The result
is a highly efficient facility and a quality of
suspended ceiling board that shadows over ‘old
generation’ traditional mineral wool tiles. OWAcoustic®
Boards contain more than 50% mineral wool, where others
can be as low as 15%, which enables ceilings with
exceptional acoustic and fire resisting properties.
OWA has been a strong market leader in suspended
ceilings in Germany for decades and its award winning
‘OWAcoustic®’ ceilings are now available throughout the
UK and Ireland. The impressive production facility in
Germany incorporates world leading technologies and
produces up to forty million square metres of suspended
ceilings per year.
The UK delegates included the Managing Directors of
Several top ceiling contractors Miles Radburn of Topfix,
Howard Winter of Sound Ceilings and the future president
of the industry’s Trade Association the AIS, David Jones
of Classic Excel. They were joined by leaders of the
main ceilings distributors in the UK, Andrew Harrison,
Managing Director of CCF Ltd and Mick O’Callaghan,
Commercial director of CPD PLC.
A particular focus of this latest investment in Amorbach
is the saving of energy. The new installation has in
excess of 20% lower energy consumption than the
conventional manufacturing technology, following OWA’s
progressive policy of commitment to the environment.
OWA is the market leader for mineral wool ceiling tiles
in Germany and has for several decades been an
established world-wide supplier of ceiling systems. At
the present time approx.75% of the production is
exported to 78 different countries.
OWA’UK’s Managing Director, Andrew Smith, stated
