Optex launches new grade 3 detector with Bespoke Anti-masking technology

Optex Europe has launched the CX-502AM plus, a new ‘fit and forget’ Passive Infrared Detector for Grade 3 applications that features an advanced Spherical Lens Protection (SLP) technology for optimum anti-masking performance.

The new detector also features a Double Conductive Shielding capability and Quad Zone Logic technology to provide maximum immunity to sunlight and RFI and minimum false alarms caused by spot temperature changes.

“The new CX-502AM plus is ideal for any difficult environment and Grade 3 application where an installer might be currently using an Optex dual-technology detector,” explains Paul Nicholas of Optex Europe. “Because our SLP anti-masking technology is built-in, and designed with the sole purpose of preventing and detecting any interference with the lens, our new model gives installers trouble free performance every time.

“The advanced Active Infrared anti-mask technology also has high performance characteristics to protect against ‘invisible’ anti-masking attempts from clear spray or lacquer, an area of particular interest
amongst installers concerned as to the efficacy of using an alternative Microwave based anti-mask product.”

Optex Europe’s patented SLP technology enables consistent sensitivity against masking across the surface of the PIR lens. It is complemented by Quad Zone Logic that creates a much higher vertical zone density than usually available. This allows an entire body mass of a person to be detected, and the smallest contrasts in temperature between the individual and their background to be discerned. The detection density also takes into account dead zones created by furniture or partitions.

Double Conductive Shielding of the Pyroelectric Element is in effect a double filtering and shielding of visible light and RFI such that only infrared energy reaches the Pyroelectric Elements. “This feature – which is already proven in Optex Europe’s RedWall range of external detectors – further improves the reliability of the detector by reducing the likelihood of false alarms,” Paul adds.

The detector also has advanced digital temperature compensation, alarm memory and initial alarm memory, arm/disarm status recognition, and a self-checking feature.

With a detection range of 15m x 15m at 85 degrees, the CX-502AM plus is aesthetically designed and easy to install, complete with various wall or ceiling mounted brackets.
