Firestone Rubber Roofing Continues To Grow

From the large residential project at Lancaster Court in London to a small dormer window in Scotland, Firestone Roofing is growing in popularity and market share for a wide spectrum of residential and commercial applications.

As a result of the above, Firestone Distributor, Permaroof UK LTD, has appointed a Commercial Sales Manager, practical man Max Harvey, who co-ordinates and polices the Residential and Commercial Roofing installers, to ensure that technical training, compliance with Firestone Technical Guidelines and quality are kept to the very high Firestone standards despite the size or type of building that is protected by Firestone EPDM single ply membrane.

When you think of Residential Roofing applications we tend to think of the small flat roof to a garage, porch or dorma window, however, our experience has shown that much larger residential projects, are becoming common place. These projects are also just perfect for the Firestone EPDM.

Following the success of one block of flats at Sherwood Court, Nottingham which was circa 300 m2, other blocks followed eventually numbering nine in total covering 2,700m2.

As the old existing mastic asphalt could be overlaid, Ashfield District Council of Kirkby-In-Ashfield, Notts chose Firestone EPDM, taking into account the fact that the product is a totally cold applied membrane, which did not present any risk to the residents, the work was carried out without disruption to the occupants while they were still in residence.

The successful installation of this roof led to further similar residential projects all over the UK through our fully trained network of Independent Installers.

On smaller roofs such as garages, the concept of ‘one piece’ of EPDM rubber covering the entire roof area is very popular with the residential customers, who in these days of increasing customer knowledge, are aware of the failings of bituminous and other products with large numbers of laps and little movement capability, therefore, they want to move away from that concept and those products, avoiding the use of flames and hot applied products and all of the risks that they carry.
