ISOVER Caps Its Commitment To Innovation

Leading insulation manufacturer Saint-Gobain Isover UK has capped a year of extraordinary innovation by sponsoring the Housebuilding Innovation Awards 2006.

The company backed the Innovator of the Year (small sized) category that was won by Haslam Homes who are a user of Isover’s flagship RD35 innovative acoustic insulation system. This enables them to meet the new Part E building regulations without reverting to wet trades and is unique in that it is the only approved alternative to cement-based solutions.

Extensively site tested and then approved by Robust Detail, RD35 positions acoustic slabs in the party wall cavity in conjunction with plasterboard-on-dabs dry lining, allowing housebuilders to use their preferred method of construction. Robust Detail statistics show there have been almost 10,000 plot registrations to use this system in the past 12 months.

Devised in conjunction with the Home Builders Federation and supported by the ODPM, the innovation awards aim to recognise companies, like Isover, that demonstrate commitment to innovation in housebuilding.

David Harding, director of homes at Haslam Homes, received the award from Gerry Mitchell, marketing manager at Saint-Gobain Isover UK, at a dinner hosted by Jeremy Vine at the Savoy Hotel on October 10.
