Large Toshiba 600 x 600 mm four-way cassette and one-way
cassette added to VRF indoor range
Milan, 27th February 2006 - A new, hi-tech four-way
blow cassette-style indoor air conditioning unit has
been introduced by Toshiba Air Conditioning to fit
standard 600 x 600 mm large grids in suspended ceilings,
and complement Toshiba’s existing ranges of smaller VRF
system indoor units. At the other end of the scale a
simple, small, one-way blow cassette has also been added
to extend the flexibility of the Toshiba indoor unit
range for VRF systems.
These new cassettes are ideally suited to retail and
other commercial applications when applied with any of
Toshiba’s R410A VRF technology ranges. They are rated as
‘A’ for energy efficiency under energy rating schemes.
The latest fan technology and the use of the Coanda
effect ensure superb airflow, perfect air distribution,
cold draught prevention and avoidance of streaked
ceilings.
The large unit has the added attraction of being only
268 mm deep making it suitable for ceilings with
restricted void space. This feature will make the new
Mini-SMMS smaller cabinet VRF system, for which this
indoor unit has been specially designed, even more
attractive than it already is. With its refrigerant
valves able to be sited remotely, Mini-SMMS has been
created to be as silent as possible in hotel spaces, and
such spaces often have restricted void space or may even
require a small one-way blow unit. With the addition of
these two models there are now 13 indoor unit types
available to Toshiba’s VRF ranges - 79 versions in total
– more than any other manufacturer.
The 600 x 600 mm unit is available in five capacities
from 2.2 kW to 5.6 kW cooling and 2.5 kW to 6.3 kW
heating. A version of the 600 x 600 mm cassette will
also shortly be available to match the Toshiba Digital
Inverter and Super Digital Inverter Split system ranges.
This will enable total installation uniformity to be
achieved when a mix of different technologies has to be
specified. The one-way unit is available in three
capacities covering a similar range. Both units
incorporate configurable DC fan motors.
Like other recent models of Toshiba ceiling cassettes
the new large unit incorporates numerous design features
that enable easier, faster and therefore more
cost-effective installation. For a start, the main unit
weighs only 17 kgs. This is 25% lighter than similar
units, and it can be handled by one person. There is
easy access for adjustment through removable corner
panels even after installation, and all components are
integral, avoiding time-consuming separate installation
of the electrical box and condensate pump
