Sets out stall as market leader in window renovation with
prestigious Smithfield Market redevelopment
Sash window renovation specialists, Ventrolla, have
reaffirmed their position as market-leaders in window
upgrading, with their involvement in a prestigious
project to convert a Grade II listed market hall in
Manchester, into luxury apartments.
The project is part of the £7.5 million Northern Quarter
redevelopment in Manchester that will ultimately provide
an impressive complex of apartments, shops, bars,
offices and a hotel.
Led by Design & Build contractors, Eric Wright
Construction Limited, the project encompasses the
refurbishment and conversion of the Smithfield listed
building into new high quality apartments, as well as
the new build of one four storey and another five storey
building. A total of 87 new apartments in the three
blocks will be provided.
Ventrolla, who, for over 20 years, have specialised in
renovating and improving traditional sash windows,
repaired and upgraded 42 existing sash windows, together
with six original curved casement windows in the
Smithfield building. Their work entailed removing and
re-glazing damaged glass, repairing rotten timber,
refitting sash cords and easing sashes. In addition,
Ventrolla installed its patented Perimeter Sealing
System to eliminate draughts and rattles and improve
window performance.
The window-upgrading project was carried out by
Ventrolla Lancashire, a regional arm of Ventrolla, which
has 25 offices throughout the UK and Ireland. Richard
Ellis, who owns and manages Ventrolla Lancashire,
commented: “It is a privilege to be involved in a
project of this nature, which requires all our typical
skills in improving the performance of original windows
to optimise comfort, whilst retaining the architectural
integrity of an important historic building.”
